Each of the band's five members is a performing veteran: Guitarist Dave Paddock and banjoist/lap steeler Peter Jacobs
formed their first group in New York State more than... well, let's just say it was a while ago... and have performed in the DC region with Critical Gap
and Uncle

Farris, a founder of local favorites Failsafe, has given
a number of area bands
a solid beat. Vocalist Karen
Shumake has performed on stages from Virginia to Oklahoma,
while bassist Doug
Alexander previously brought his Detroit rock roots to the new-country band, Black Cactus.Together, The Splinters brew up a bluesy, upbeat mix of distinctive music, drawing on influences that include John Hiatt, Kasey Chambers, Little Feat and the subdudes. Both cover tunes and original songs are brought to life with clever arrangements that showcase their vocal and instrumental versatility.
